The main plot: Little known to humans, there is a parallel world directly linked to Earth. This world is called Sahinia. For every person on Earth, there is a counterpart on Sahinia. Apart from this, Sahinia is quite different than Earth. It is home to magical beings, elves, dwarves, dragons. Magic exists in even the smallest child. However, magic takes a heavy toll on the body. These two worlds must remain separate, for if they connect, the universe as we know it will be destroyed. Lamia is a demon from Flame, what people of Earth call Hell. She wishes the two worlds to connect, so that her master, Lucifer, may recreate the universe in his own image. She has almost entirely gained control of Sahinia, seizing the thrown and sending her agents to terrorize the people. To stop her, the Creator sent his mightiest angel, Humilis, to Sahinia. He also chose several mortals to aid Humilis. Originally, the Creator sent another angel as well, Humanitas. But Lucifer knew he would not be able to stop the Creator's two strongest angels, so he sent his second strongest demon, Invidia, and the demon melded his consciousness with the angel's. Humanitas, not wanting Invidia to gain control of his power, sent his soul into a human child, unfortunately taking Invidia with him. The human's name was to be Valeo. He was Lamia's son. Humilis takes the name Amita and watches over one of the chosen mortals, Kitilina. When the time comes when they are needed, Amita takes Kitilina (called Kitty)to seek out the other mortals. A basic run-down of the good guys: (Note: These people's magic is stronger than most's because their magic doesn't hurt their own body; it takes energy away from their Earthen bodies)
- Kitty= Katherine on Earth, Kitilina on Sahinia. The story is usually told from her POV. She holds great magic over the air and wind. She doesn't know her parents; Amita raised her. All she knows of her parents is that one was an elf, the other a human. Amita taught her both Elven and Human languages.
- Amita= Kind, caring, the basic mother type. It is unknown to her traveling companions that she is an angel. There is no counterpart of her on Earth, for she is from Eden, called Heaven.
- Nex= A dark warrior who teaches the Chosen how to fight. He rarely shows emotion, although when he does, it is heartfelt. He once admits that he is reluctant to grow close to others because of something that happened to him long ago. That event seems to revolve around Lamia, whom he hates, and Valeo, to whom he claims the relationship is stranger than anything anyone's ever seen.
- Caleb= On Sahinia, called Caligo, he is besotted with Kitty, much to her dismay. He's a scribe on Sahinia, but he doesn't follow the government's orders. Instead of burning the books that Lamia has banned, he hides them in secret. Caleb has no great magic, but his heart is dead set to overthrow Lamia. He also seems to know her son, Valeo, very well, and says that they knew each other as children.
